Early Neolithic settlers were attracted by this islands’ light and fertile soil, abundant natural resources and temperate climate. Cultivating the land, they introduced barley – a crucial ingredient of this single malt whisky – and they burned Orkney’s rich, heathery peat, just as they do in their kilns today.
From the barley and peat they share, to the skill and creativity they value, Highland Park is proud to support the archaeological work of the Ness of Brodgar Trust at this globally significant Neolithic site in Orkney by donating a percentage of the proceeds generated from this release of a limited 5,000 bottles.
Ness of Brodgar’s Legacy was bottled at its marrying strength of 46% ABV, intensifying its flavours of heather honey, fruitcake, sweet wintery spices and aromatic peat smoke.
They’ve been crafting their award-winning whisky at the Highland Park Distillery in Kirkwall, Orkney, since 1798. Age, experience and respect for tradition may define their whisky, but it’s Orkney that sets it apart. Something magic happens there and the result is the wild harmony of flavours found in this whisky.
