Champagne Henri Giraud is the oldest Champagne house still owned by its founding family – the Giraud-Hémart family has farmed vines at Aÿ since 1625. However, it is only since current head Claude Giraud took over that the wines have been released under the family name.
The Henri Giraud Blanc de Blancs Craie NV is composed of 100% Chardonnay from chalk soils of the Montagne de Reims. Based on the 2017 vintage, the blend includes 10% of reserve wines from Aÿ Grand Cru, matured for 12 months in Argonne oak barrels before being incorporated.
